Dancexcel is committed to providing the highest quality dance instruction through our professional, experienced teaching staff to give our students the dance knowledge, technique, confidence and self-esteem needed to transfer over into the world of professional dance. At Dancexcel, we focus upon proper placement into classes according to both age and skill level. We place a strong emphasis on proper technical training and ballet class, which allows dancers to excel further and faster in their other selected classes and styles. We require respect, poise, and discipline from our students and expect regular class attendance. We are determined to provide an environment in which every dancer can thrive and become their personal best. Dancexcel strives to engage students in a fun-filled, non-risk atmosphere where learning becomes fun and dancers support one another. Dancexcel is focused on helping students develop a positive self-image through dance, fitness, health and overall well being.
Miss Gina: Owner
Gina Koch created Dancexcel with the vision of giving young dancers the opportunity to fall in love with dance just as she did as a little girl. She has over 25 years of dance experience with training in ballet, pointe, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, tap, modern and theater. She has been teaching dance for over 18 years and was a former kindergarten teacher as well. She performed as a professional member of the Cleveland Cavalier Girls Dance Team and was invited to dance aboard Holland America Cruise Lines. She was also a member of the Cleveland Baron’s Dance Team. Gina has received numerous awards for her choreography, dance performances, technique and teaching abilities. She received a scholarship to train in New York City at the Broadway Dance Center at the age of 16. She continues to train all over the country with well known instructors and choreographers such as Denise Wall and Mia Michaels. Gina graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baldwin Wallace College in 2004 with Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. She served as a kindergarten teacher at Kidder Elementary in Brunswick from 2004-2008 and was named Teacher of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year. Gina has coached the Kidder Dance Team, Towslee Dance Team, and Brunswick High School Dance Team throughout her years as a studio owner. Most recently, Gina was recognized by Misty Lown, founder of More Than Just Great Dancing, for her efforts to build a studio that goes beyond teaching technique to help her students develop important life skills, learning to be respectful, confident and conscientious young people who share their gifts and talents with the community.
Mandee Marini brings over 30 years of dance training and experience in all styles of dance to Dancexcel. She has trained with Mia Michaels, Denise Wall, Tiffany Henderson, Tawney G., Wade Robson, Haley Mac, Mandy Moore, Angel Roberts, and Chris Judd. She has danced and cheered competitively and won numerous awards and titles. She stays current and up to date with her continual training in New York City. She also has an extensive background in child care, along with an associates degree in Education. Miss Mandee is the Assistant Director at Dancexcel. She is a Co-Director to our Dancexcel Youth Company, a coach to our Teen Dance Force, Glitter Girls and Sparkle Squad, and a lead mentor in our student teaching program.
Stephanie Konkoly began her dance training at the age of 4. She has over 20 years of dance training and experience. She has choreographed for multiple dance and cheer clinics and has won numerous awards and titles for her performances as a cheerleader and dancer. Miss Stephanie also has extensive training in tumbling and acro skills. Miss Stephanie continues to train and attend workshops both locally and nationally throughout the year. She is experienced in teaching young children creative movement, dance, cheer and is dedicated to fostering the self esteem of each child. Miss Stephanie is a Registered Nurse, is BLS certified and has been a teacher at Dancexcel since its opening in 2007.
Julie Miller is entering her 5th dance season with Dancexcel. She has an extensive background in ballet and modern dance. She has been teaching dance for the past twelve years in the Cleveland area. She has 22 years of training in ballet, modern and pointe. She is trained in R.A.D, Ceccehiti, Vaganova and Russian styles of ballet . She was pre-professional at the young age of 8. She has studied with the Ohio Youth Ballet under Jennifer Max and the North Coast Ballet Theatre under Margaret Duncan. Miss Julie has been accepted to numerous summer intensives such as the Ballet Met, Royal Academy of Dance, The Rock School, Bolshoi, Joffrey Ballet, Cleveland Ballet and North Carolina School of the Arts. She has competed and attended workshops at the Youth American Grand Prix in Chicago. Miss Julie graduated from Akron University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2005 where she was a member of the Akron University Dance Company. While at the University she studied with world renowned choreographers Jennifer Muller and Jill Hawthorne Barre. Miss Julie continues taking master classes with Finis Jhung, Linda Farrell, Denise Wall, Behoit-Swan Pouffer, David Howard and Mia Michaels. She has performed in University of Akron’s Swan Lake and Les Syllphides. She has also performed in the Cleveland Orchestra’s production of Cleopatra. Miss Julie challenges each of her students and pushes them to grow and become their personal best. She is the Lead Ballet and Modern Instructor at Dancexcel.
Connie Krebs has been singing and dancing for over 25 years, beginning with her training at the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts in voice and dance which
continued through college, attending Baldwin-Wallace College where she earned her B.A.
in dance in 2003. She has performed in musicals such as West Side Story, 42nd Street,
Annie, Jesus Christ Superstar, Children of Eden, Music Man, and many more. Connie has
coached competitive cheerleading for Camp Cayuga in the Poconos, performed in New
York City for the Jamaican Independence Day Celebration, and has choreographed
musicals for area theatres and schools. During the summer Connie choreographs for the
musical theatre program at TrueNorth Cultural Arts in Sheffield Lake. She has an extensive
background in working with children of all ages and has three daughters of her own. As well
as being a dance teacher for Dancexcel, Connie is also the graphic designer for the studio.
Miranda Watkins began her dance training in kindergarten, with Miss Gina as her first dance teacher. She has over 15 years of competitive cheer and dance experience. Miss Miranda was a member of the Dancexcel Diamond Crew Seniors, which included a performance at the 2011 Orange Bowl Halftime Show. Miss Miranda was a three - year member of the Medina High School Dance Team, where she was captain her senior year. She has also cheered and danced for Ohio Explosion, Ultimate Athletics of Ohio, and Midwest Cheer Elite where she competed at the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Dance Worlds. Miss Miranda has also been an assisting coach and has choreographed for teams that have been to various national competitions. Miss Miranda has been to many different dance conventions where she has taken class with various well known choreographers. She is CPR certified and first-aid trained. Miss Miranda is currently attending Walsh University where she was a member of the Walsh Cheer and Dance Teams. Most recently, she has traveled to New York where she completed The Pulse Teacher Training Workshop in 2013 and 2015. She plans to continue taking these classes to further her knowledge of teaching dancers in a professional manner. Miss Miranda is very excited to be the coach of the Medina Glitter Girls, Boss Crew, and Sparkle Squad teams this coming season! She was previously a student teacher at Dancexcel and is thrilled to be a part of the Dancexcel teaching staff!
Brittney Asmann began her dance training at the age of 3 and has over 20 years of dance experience. She has been trained in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical , and modern dance. She was a member of the Medina High School Dance Team and continued to study dance while attending Kent State University. Most recently, she was a member of the Columbus Crewzers professional dance and cheerleading team. Brittney is currently continuing her education for a degree in Nursing.
Miss Amy has been dancing since she was five years old.
She is trained in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Lyrical, and Pointe.
Miss Amy was a member of the Dancexcel Diamond Crew
Competition team for five years, being captain of the team for
one year and was a member of the Brunswick High School
Dancin' Devil's team for four years. She also has attended many
master classes with teachers such as Tyce Diorio, Bonnie Story,
and The Rockettes. Miss Amy attended the Beginnings
Workshop, a week long seminar for performing arts students in
London, England, under the direction of Peter Sklar. Miss Amy
is super excited to be apart if the Dancexcel teaching staff and
to share her love for dance!
Alison Krejny has had a passion for dance since the age 3, with a serious focus in ballet, modern and floor barre for the last 18 years. She trained with the former Royal School of Ballet under Joanne Hughes Morscher and Ana Lobe along with summer programs at The Rock School of Ballet in Philedelphia and BalletMet in Columbus. Alison also had the opportunity to compete and attend workshops at the Youth America Grand Prix in Chicago. Alison then graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of the Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in ballet along with a degree in Business Management Technology in 2007. She was an active member in the University's dance club Terpsichore, where she participated in many student-choreographed performances such as Choreographer's Workshop & Spring into Dance. Alison also held a firm role in UADC (University of Akron's Dance Company) with roles including Cygnet (Little Swan) in Swan Lake, the Emerald Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, as well as original choreography by Andrew Carroll, Cydney Spohn and Marc Ozanich. Alison performed and toured with the University of Akron's Opera Chorus, where she had a featured role in their production of Amahl. Since graduating, she continues to teach and train when possible along with running her dance marketing company, To The Pointe Marketing.
Angelina Dlouhy has always had a love for dance. She has been a student under Miss Julie where she was trained in ballet, modern, and pointe. She also trained in jazz with her high school dance team,, where she became captain her senior year. She has been involved with Dancexcel's Kids Dancing for Kids productions, and has been a student teacher and a substitute with Dancexcel. She is continuing her dance training at The University of Akron where she is pursuing a degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in dance. She is excited to continue working with Dancexcel and sharing her passion for dance with her students!
Morgan Farley has been dancing both competitively and recreationally for over 15 years. She has had such a love for dance since a young age and has made sharing and teaching dance her main passion in life. Morgan has training in jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, and contemporary. Throughout Morgan’s dance career she has taken a number of master classes, dance workshops, and conventions. She has most recently trained with dancers such as Jessica King from “So You Think You Can Dance” and Colt Prattes, the lead backup dancer for P!NK. As a competitive dancer, Morgan has won numerous high-score, overall, and special awards for both her self-choreographed solos and group dances. As a teacher and choreographer, she is even more proud to say that her own dances have been awarded the same. She has most recently been awarded with “Top Choreography” at the national level this past summer in Orlando, Florida, where she was also one of the directors and choreographers of a piece chosen to perform at Downtown Disney. Morgan loves teaching all dance styles to all ages and has had an amazing first year being a part of Dancexcel! She is so honored to meet so many dancers who share the same passion as her and she cannot wait to continue to share her love of dance, as well as help and support her students reach their goals!
Allexa Gaewsky has had a passion for dance since the age of two. She has been dancing competitively and recreationally for over fifteen years. Allexa has training in jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical, and contemporary. She has taken a number of master classes and attended many conventions during her time as a competition dancer. She has taken master classes from Mia Michaels and Melanie Moore, both from “So You Think You Can Dance”. Along with this, Allexa has been trained by master teacher, Miss Dee Hillier, who was her teacher for over five years. Allexa graduated from The University of Dayton in 2016 where she danced recreationally while pursuing her degree in Child Psychology. Allexa is excited to be part of the Dancexcel teaching staff. She cannot wait to share her passion and love of dance with her students.
Miss Megan M.
Megan McDonnell has been training in dance since she was 2 years old. She has taught and been a part of many styles of dance such as lyrical, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, afro-jazz, tricks and technique, as well as various workout classes. She furthered her dance education by taking numerous master classes from well-known instructors and choreographers at the University of Minnesota. For the past 3 years she has been teaching classes of girls and boys ages 2-17 at a studio in Wisconsin. Megan graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2016 with a dual degree in elementary education and special education. During her student teaching experience, Megan used her passion for dance to create a dance organization for young inner-city students that gave them a safe place to be after school and also exposed them to the world of dance. From there, she coordinated a performance for them on a theater stage downtown in front of more than five hundred community members, complete with costumes made available from community donated funds. Also in Madison, she danced and choreographed in Optima dance organization. While in Optima she won awards for Best Musicality and Best Choreography 4 semesters in a row. Megan is thrilled to become a part of Dancexcel and contribute her love for dance in such a positive atmosphere!
Nichole has had over 25 years of dance training and has been teaching for the last decade. During her years of training she had the great pleasure of taking classes from incredible artists such as (Broadway Dance Center's) Natalia Stavro, (Steps on Broadway's) Bill Hastings, and (Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance's) James Robey! She also trained with Joann Hughes Morscher at Royal School of Ballet and Poppy Dinse, for her intense focus on Ballet and Pointe work. Nichole took to the competition stages with numerous pointe variations as well, which won a great deal of overall high score awards.
She has a great passion for challenging her students and helping them to find joy in the art of dance each and every time they step foot in her classroom. Technique, dedication and joy for the art- are among the top 3 most important elements of her instruction. She is very excited to be a part of the Dancexcel family this year and is looking forward to building strong, confident dancers.
Miss Megan F.
Miss Megan has been dancing since she was three years old and has trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, musical theater, and voice. She has been with Dancexcel since its opening in 2007. Miss Megan student taught with Dancexcel for three years and has been a substitute for two years. She was a competition dancer and has won numerous overall high score awards. Miss Megan is a member of the pre-professional Dancexcel Youth Company and has attended master classes with The Rockettes , Kenny Wormald and Tiffany Maher. She is CPR and First Aid certified by the American Heart Association and is studying to become a nurse with a dance minor. Miss Megan is very excited to be part of the Dancexcel teaching staff!
Jalyn Mancuso has always had a love for dance. She began dancing at the age of three, and is trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, and Contemporary. Jalyn began competing at age five, traveling to different states participating in competitions and conventions. She has taken classes with the Radio City Rocketts, Travis Wall, Denise Wall, Michelle Dorance, Chris Judd, Fik Shun, Arron Burr as well as many more dance professionals. Jalyn traveled to New York City where she took classes at the Broadway Dance Center, and had a class with Lane Alexander who was the consular on the show Victorious. She has worked with The Movement Project participating and performing in their summer intensives in 2016 and 2017 as well taking classes at their facility. At Dancexcel, Jalyn has been on the Dancexcel Diamond Crew, Teen Dance Force, Platinum Crew and the Dancexcel Youth Company. She was also part of the Dancexcel Student Teaching program for several years. She is a recent graduate of Strongsville High School and is a licensed Cosmetologist. Jalyn's strength is tap dancing and she looks forward to working with young students and sharing her love of dance.
Miss Megan Gargano
Megan Lee Gargano is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, where she began her training in 2003 at the Royal School of Ballet under the direction of Joanne Hughes Morscher. In addition, Megan studied at The Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts in Connecticut, BalletMet in Columbus, performed with The Pennsylvania Ballet and participated in several dance festivals throughout Ohio.
In 2012, Megan received her BFA in Performance and Choreography from Ohio University School of Dance. While studying at OU, Megan performed in faculty works by Mickie Geller and guest work by Adriana Durant, Stefanie Batten Bland and Sean Curran.
In July 2010, Megan studied at the Laban Centre in Greenwich, London, where she furthered her studies in Limon and Release Techniques, choreography and contact improvisation. In 2009, Megan co-founded The Movement Project, a non-profit dance company located in Tremont Ohio. The Movement Project’s work has been featured at Cleveland Public Theatre, Hullabaloo/Valerie Mayen, Cellar Door Cleveland, Arts in August, OhioDance Festival at BalletMet, Baldwin Wallace University, Ohio University, Dumbo Dance Festival in NYC, The Breen Center, SPACES and Going Dutch Festival in Chicago.
She is excited to share her knowledge and passion for dance with the students at Dancexcel.
